Background Information and Training

Hello.  I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Georgia who provides individual therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults.  I specialize in research supported treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD.   Additional areas of interest include anger management, peer relationships/social skills, parent-child relationships, and self-esteem.  I also enjoy working directly with parents as a parenting coach, providing empirically supported interventions including Parent Management Training (PMT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

I am also well trained to provide psychoeducational evaluations in order to document learning disabilities and other factors that negatively impact learning.  During my graduate training, I worked in the Clarke County school system as well as a large urban-suburban school district in Houston, Texas.  I worked for five years as the supervising psychologist in the School Psychology Clinic at The University of Georgia.  Thus, I am well versed in academic-based recommendations, modifications, and strategies to improve school performance, and I enjoy consulting with parents and teachers regarding the best way to meet the academic needs of children.

I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in 2007. I subsequently held a part-time assistant professor position at UGA in the Department of Educational Psychology. I taught several sections of doctoral-level courses (Social and Emotional Assessment of Children and Adolescents; Individual Intervention) and provided clinical supervision to advanced graduate students conducting assessments in the School Psychology Clinic at UGA.  I also supervised advanced doctoral-level practicum students in the administration of assessments and provision of therapy services in my private practice.

I have been a member of national and local organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA), and the Athens Area Psychological Association (AAPA).

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children, and our dogs, cat, and chickens. I love to sew and craft, read, listen to podcasts, travel, hike, and go on trail runs around our beautiful county.
